Recently I witnessed two people having an argument in a department store over gift-giving.  One was certain that a particular gift was better than what her companion suggested.  The argument got loud and ugly.  Somehow the reason for the holiday season got lost.  We descend into madness if we’re untethered from our center. Meditation and Centering Prayer are simply two among many disciplines that serve to keep us centered on what matters.  What matters is the love and light we bring to any given moment. The word DISCIPLE means student or perpetual learner.  Disciples of Jesus – or disciples of the Eternal Way – are perpetual students who’re committed to learning how to live lives of love, centered in the Light and in service to all. The Light of love is not the private property of any one group or religion.  The Light of love is available to all.  Some of us know this Light as Jesus.  Others know this Light as the Tao. Others know this Light by other names or no name at all. The point is to know this Light in the quiet stillness of your heart and to share it with others.  Stay in the Light.  Share the Light.  Enjoy the journey.

Even the finest teaching is not the Tao itself.

Even the finest name is insufficient to define it.

Without words, the Tao can be experienced,

and without a name, it can be known.

Chapter 1 – Tao Te Ching

In the beginning was the Word,

and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.

John 1:1-5
