Healing is the central theme of most spiritual traditions. Our environment needs healing. Our economy needs healing. People need healing. Healing in body, mind and spirit. The question is how do we heal? First, it’s important to recognize UNITY. All these seemingly discrete issues – the economy, the environment, humankind, animals, etc. – are all connected. We are one. So if we are to heal properly, we need a proper vision. That vision is one of unity. The unity of all Creation. Second, humankind must LOVE all Creation in word and deed. No other part of Creation – not plants, not land animals, not sea animals, etc. – is doing the planet harm like humans. Humankind’s harm to the Earth is an expression of hubris and a lack of love for Creation of which we are a part. Three, COMPASSION is essential. Compassion – in this context – includes a right view of Nature and to work to end suffering of all Creation. Once this vision is clear – and acted out in spirit and in truth – our relationships with one another and the Earth will heal. It’s time to heal our hearts. It’s time to heal the Earth. It’s time to heal.

The sage does not try
to change the world by force,
for he knows that force results in force.
He avoids extremes and excesses,
and does not become complacent.
Chapter 29 – Tao Te Ching
On the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.”
