Peace begins within.  The anti-war movement, the civil rights movement, the woman’s movement, the gay rights movement, the peace movement, as well as all other movements, revolutions and rebellions will never realize their potential until true peace – through inner transformation of individual hearts and minds – becomes the priority. Various movements provide an alleviation of some outward and visible injustice.  Also, certain physical needs such as food, clothing, shelter and the right to basic human dignity must be addressed vigorously and immediately. Yet, true revolution takes place in our hearts and minds.  This transformation is known by various names such as; higher consciousness, salvation, new birth, being born again. This transformation is authentic as we touch and become one with the one true Light. Christians call this transformation taking on the mind of Christ.  Buddhists call it enlightenment.  Others call this transformation embracing the Tao, the Inner Light, the Great Spirit or abiding in the Holy Spirit.  We transform the world through the transformation of our selves.  We don’t have to wait on others.  We touch the world by what we become. Become peace. Become stillness. Become gentleness. This is what it means to let your light shine. Be the light.  Be the peace you wish to see.  Peace be within you. Enjoy the journey.

My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start.

So far today, I have finished 2 bags of M&M’s and a chocolate cake. I feel better already.”

[Jesus said] “I have said these things to you while I am still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I am coming to you.’ If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you this before it occurs, so that when it does occur, you may believe. I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me; but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us be on our way.
