The mark of a moderate person is freedom from his own ideas.

Chapter 59 – Tao Te Ching

The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it,

but you do know where it comes from or where it goes.

So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit (John 3:8).

In order to stay in the flow of the Spirit we must be willing to go where the Eternal Tao leads.

Jesus is the incarnation of the Eternal Tao. Are we willing to follow where Jesus leads?

Few seem to choose the Tao of Jesus (Matthew 7:13-14).  Yet, many come in his name.

I just finished watching the documentary American Nomad.

Nomads remind me of what is essential.

The segment in this documentary on a nomad named Comfry

Is particularly beautiful and challenging.

It’s beautiful to see the incredible spirit of this young man.

It’s challenging to think of the ways in which we – as individuals and as a society – have abandoned our responsibility towards the poor.

Jesus had a special love for the poor.

St. Francis had a special love for the poor.

How will my life change if I more fully embrace the teachings of Jesus?

What does true freedom look like (John 8:36)?

Free to be patient, kind, and generous.

Know Jesus. Live the Tao.

Be free.
