Meditation – Slow is beautiful.

Adagio is a term used to designate slow movement.  Adagio is mostly associated with slow movement within music or dance.  For years I traveled to exotic locations around the world to listen to great operas and classical music.  While I still love travel, today I’m just as enraptured by listening to Nature as to good music. Now I listen to friends, family and strangers more attentively.  Sometimes I fail miserably at listening to others.  Sometimes I fail to listen to the music of Nature.  Sometimes I fail to listen to the still small voice within me.  To listen well we must slow down.  To listen well we must be committed to be awake to the present moment.  Slow is beautiful.  Adagio is not just for music and dance. Slow down and listen to the music all around you.  Even in the harsh noise their is a story.  From an inner stillness, celebrate the music of life.  Enjoy the journey.

Nature’s way is to say but little;
high winds are made still
with the turn of the tide,
and rarely last all morning,
nor heavy rain, all day.
Therefore, when talking,
remember also
to be silent and still.

Chapter 23 – Tao Te Ching

Listening and Doing

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires
